On 1 July, in the late afternoon, the Shrine hosted a special pilgrimage.
Special because it was done by only one faithful. Special because it took place almost in silence and when the day in the Basilica was now drawing to a close. Special because it was performed by a newly consecrated bishop. Especially special because it was made to ask for the special intercession of the Archangel.
Msgr.Fabio Ciollaro, the new Pastor of Cerignola – Ascoli Satriano, wanted to entrust his episcopal ministry to St. Michael, arriving with devotion in the Sacred Grotto of Monte Sant’Angelo.
Don Fabio was welcomed by the Rector and his brothers: a joyful and very familiar greeting addressed to that priest of the Diocese of Brindisi who a few years earlier had carried out the service of confessor in the Basilica and had frequented the community of the Michelites.
«May the embrace of our prayer reach you – Fr. Ladislao – that we assure you constant and that we hope will contribute to making your ministry fruitful and in conformity with the will of God ”.
