Spiritual Exercises for Priests

“The spiritual exercises are the best that one can think, feel, and understand in this life, both so that man can benefit himself and so that he can bear fruit, help, and benefit many others.” This is what Saint Ignatius of Loyola said, commenting on the meditation and prayer program he conceived and developed, aimed at strengthening the bond with God and making life more spiritual.

A precious method, therefore, “to live holiness in its most perfect degree (…), drawing it from the doctrine and example of our Lord, Jesus Christ,” and to guide one’s life “without making decisions based on any disordered affection.”

As per decades-long tradition, the Michaelite Fathers organize a Week of Retreats for priests and consecrated persons at the Shrine of Saint Michael. Known as the “Gate of Heaven and House of God,” this place is congenial for moments of retreat, prayer, listening, reflection, and sharing. And the Archangel, mediator between God and His people, guarantees an intimate and “Paschal” encounter with the Truth.

The retreat will take place from February 9 to 14, 2026.

The meditations, inspired by the theme “I have called you by name, you are mine (Isaiah 43:1),” will be led by Father Salvatore Musella, a vocationist.
