From the Philippines to the Sacred Grotto

A journey of faith, hope, and renewal.

A grueling 21-hour flight did not deter a fervent group of Filipino pilgrims who arrived in Monte Sant’Angelo with a special mission in their hearts.

After the historic sword belonging to the Diocesan Shrine and Parish of San Miguel Arcángel in Bulacan—the Philippines’ oldest shrine, boasting over 300 years of history—was stolen a few months ago, the community did not lose faith; instead, a group of devotees set out on a journey, eager to obtain a new sword from the mystical Grotto in the Gargano region.

The sacred object was blessed by Fr. Gregorio Ziobro, Superior of the Michaelite Community of Monte Sant’Angelo, and presented with deep emotion to Fr. Avellino A. Sampana.

In a moving exchange of gifts and fellowship, the pilgrims presented the Shrine with a wooden statuette of the Archangel, a testament to the spiritual bond uniting two peoples and two places of worship located on opposite sides of the globe.
