The cross, trust in Jesus

Good Friday recounts the passion, the crucifixion and the death of Jesus Christ: an extreme and total demonstration of God’s love for man.

Many liturgical signs characterize this day of “extraordinary folly of love”: the church stripped of ornaments, the red color of the vestments, the silence of musical instruments, the painful reading of the Passio, the adoration of the cross.

“We are often asked why we adore the cross”, reflected Father Thomas Rozek. And the answer is that we Christians “adoring the cross, we do not worship suffering in itself, but we adore the love of Christ who has consumed everything for us”. “In fact”, this is the conclusion of the homily, “the cross is the only door to heaven, even if today’s world wants to eliminate it and wants everything to be easy, without pain, without suffering; the cross, trust in Jesus, does not hurt to wear it: it hurts when you avoid bringing it ».
