Love to the end

The liturgy of Holy Thursday is a splendid compendium of theology, symbolism and catechesis that “explains” the essence and meaning of being Christian.

The solemn celebration was presided over by Fr. Ladislao Suchy.

Faced with the numerous faithful present and alongside the concelebrating confreres, the Rector of the Shrine presented the three themes that characterize the first day of the Easter Triduum: the Eucharist, which “arises from the love of Christ and is celebrated in love, without divisions and without hypocrisy “; the priesthood, “a magnificent gift of unity”; service, “confirmed by the example of Jesus Master who washes the disciples’ feet”. “Three elements that constitute the prelude to the new commandment of fraternal charity”. And he concluded: “The true joy of Jesus and of God, which he reveals, consists in love to the end”.

The gestures of delivering a rose to the presbyters, the washing of the feet, the Altar of Reposition decorated with a chalice with the Holy Host and two doves, recalling the Holy Trinity, have contributed to making the meanings and contents “visible” of the celebration.
