“Communion with God”: Sunday’s Thought

There are two important signs in today’s liturgy on the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of the Lord: bread and wine.

They are not merely a response to human labor, material realities that ensure the physical survival of creatures: together with water, they point to higher values and are symbols of communion, friendship, and intimacy.

Through the Eucharist, the faithful enter into communion with Christ, are torn from mortality, and are inserted into the mystery of divine life.

Let us pray that no one will ever lack nourishment for the body and, above all, for the Spirit.
