“Vigilants in waiting”: the thought of Sunday

Thirty-third Sunday of Ordinary Time.

The liturgical year is coming to an end and this influences the theme of the readings.

Jesus foretells the end of the temple of Jerusalem, which occurred a few decades later by the Romans, and the end of the world of which the date is unknown.

We should not be afraid due to certain signs and events. False prophets will arise in the world, there will be misfortunes and persecutions throughout history, but these are not signs of the end. It must be awaited with vigilance, with industrious and active perseverance, with faithfulness constant to Christ to the end. The rest is up to him.

The Spirit allows everyone to keep the hope fixed to possess life.
